I build and teach

I am the co-founder of some fun and challenging dreams, most recently, a technology company that provides crazy automation services for small businesses.

Most days I perform with the ethos that leaders teach as much as they create. With 23 formal years in the technology industry, I have seen many businesses wither. The successful ones have one thing in common; they inspire others in some way. I’m in the camp that maintains: the joy of life comes not from money but personal growth. (Profit margins are the byproduct that follows naturally, with a small mental shift)

I was born on the Iberian Peninsula at a time and place where electricity and indoor plumbing weren’t a given. But I never felt at a loss. My parents infused dreaming and inspired imagination in me. I was an explorer from day one.

Mostly a shy child, exploration was usually between me and things that didn’t talk back. I spent hours tinkering. I loved deconstructing things and putting them back together to understand how they worked. If my corneas grew tired, I ventured outdoors and romped through the spectacular nature in my boundless backyard. I learned to hunt by eight. The solitary practice required for tracking taught me patience and reverence for life forms on their journey. Most of all, I loved adventure, and I embarked on one when my family moved to Canada as I waded into adolescence.

Language was immediately a roadblock. But I spoke a universal tongue - sports. I joined every team available at school and out: including competitive swimming, which I continued into university.
And on that approach, the roadblock was gone. I had made it to top-of-class with honours in English Literature.

I met my wife in high school, and we married while in college. Together we have two children who inspire me daily.

My father and I ran a business after I graduated from college. It was one of the most illuminatingly tough things I ever did. The experience taught me the need for persistence and reminded me of the oh-so-observant child I once was who knew to: “Keep an eye out for the lessons, don't dwell on the mistakes that precede them”.
I stumbled a fair bit. Like every entrepreneur. And learned more patience, more kindness. And also came back tougher each time. So tough that I ‘killed it’ at my next business. And the next.

The stormy days of earlier years were strict but effective taskmasters in my life:
It means I AM now the force that’s to be reckoned with.
I am the best at what I do. And I take most opportunities to share it through mentoring and teaching.
- From business for small startups to sports and kindness to children of 6 to 68.

And so there was some success. But who to tell and share it with?
I’ve done my best to use my accomplishments to help family, friends, and employees through difficult times. During the Covid-19 episode(s), my company worked tirelessly to maintain and keep our staff employed and supported.
I’m now a robust person. An all-at-once "Bodybuilder and Sprinter" in my profession, personal accomplishments and home life.

When not working, I continue to love the outdoors. I am a runner, an adventure racer, a swimmer, a builder, and a martial artist. I take every opportunity - to learn so that I can teach.
